Google Sync synchronization service for Symbian S60

With Sync, users synchronize their Google contacts and calendar items to their smartphone. Sync was already avaible on other platforms.

Sync was already available for Windows Mobile, iPhone OS, Blackberry and as a SyncML service. Symbian is now added to that list, so the search giant announced its mobile-blog. The service is, as usual with Google, still in beta. Goolge mobie blog.

The service works through the Symbian Nokia Mail for Exchange application. Instead of a Microsoft Exchange Server, a server of Google is used, then contacts and calendar items are synchronized between the Google Account and the smartphone.

The Sync service is for that reason only available for S60v3. The touchscreen version of S60, S60v5, does not have Mail for Exchange, but works with a new e-mail wizard, which supports out-of-the-box Exchange.

For the iPhone the setup of Sync goes through the settings for Exchange. For Windows Mobile, the service uses Active
